No. 1a – Yelling online (Up 77 spots from last week) – The PGA Tour sent a memo to its players on Wednesday announcing that it is passing on the opportunity to lead by example and adopt the USGA and R&A rollback proposal. Time to take to Twitter, or X, or whatever it’s called and hash it out since that’s what happens in 2023.

No. 1b – Brian Harman (Up 21) – Poor guy won the biggest tournament of his life and got beaten out for the top spot by some dummies online. Who is making these rankings?

No. 4 – Mr. Rogers (Up 711) – He’s a smart man.

No. 5 – Kylian Mbappé (Up 12) – The Frenchman reportedly turned down a one-year offer worth $775 million from Al Hilal, a Saudi football club owned by the PIF. Does he also prioritize legacy, not leverage?

No. 12 – Nepotism (Up 232) – Filling PGA Tour fields one son at a time.

No. 34 – My hope for the Cubs (Up 133) – I told you all I was close to ranking them a few weeks ago. Still need to play very good baseball in August to get a playoff spot but you may be hearing more about them in August. Or they’ll lose five of the next six and you won’t hear about them again this season. Either way, buckle up.

No. 38 – Booming sounds of large footsteps (Up 431) – After a slumber this summer, it appears that Jon Rahm may have found something at the Open Championship. He hit the ball so well the entire tournament but just didn’t quite score as well as he should have for three of the rounds. Expect a high level Spaniard by the time the Ryder Cup rolls around again.

No. 104 – Complaining about “dud” tournaments (Up 319) – It was a big week for fans who only tune into golf to see drama unfold. Sorry, no it wasn’t. Brian Harman’s dominant performance at the Open removed basically any made-for-tv moments. And that’s okay. If you were mad, get over it. One positive outcome from the discourse was that DataGolf made an attempt to quantify what makes an exciting tournament. It’s an interesting exercise and one worth considering when thinking about what makes for a compelling golf tournament vs. what makes for an exciting finish.

No. 888 – Lee Westwood (no change) – The man clearly didn’t comprehend Joel Beall’s article. The good news for him is that yelling online is No. 1a this week!

No. 1,012 – British opinion of Americans (Down 1) – They really didn’t know about hunting culture in America?

No. 1,311 – Tron Carter’s United miles nest egg (Down 987) – Still cannot believe you hopped the Atlantic Ocean for 27 hours in the rain and a T-10 finish. Good on ya, my man. Actually, maybe not. I’m still shook.
