The Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale is always one of the more entertaining events to watch, with the party atmosphere on No. 16 and the propensity for massive leaderboard shifts over the final four holes. TPC Scottsdale is a second-shot course, as it’s fairly open off the tee and not overly long. Players will see an abundance of shots from 125 to 175 yards. Those who can capitalize from this distance range will have a chance to contend this week.

DraftKings

Gary Woodland $9,300

Woodland comes into this event underpriced—mostly because of his missed cut at Torrey Pines. If he played well there, he would be going for around $10,000. Prior to last week’s MC, he had finished seventh or better in four of his past five starts. He has had great success at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, winning in 2018 and finishing seventh in 2019.

Sungjae Im $8,800

I really don’t understand this price; it’s about $900 too low. Im has been insanely consistent over his past 20 events, finishing 21st or better 14 times! Plus, he played well at TPC Scottsdale last year, placing seventh.

One-and-Done

Hideki Matsuyama

This is the best spot to use Matsuyama all year. He has played the Waste Management six times and has finished fourth or better four times, including wins in 2016 and 2017. Matsuyama is fifth in this field in proximity from 150 to 175 yards and is one of the best iron players out there.

Jon Rahm

Rahm may have a bit of extra motivation to win in the town next to where he attended college. He has played at TPC Scottsdale four times and finished 16th or better each time. He comes into this event playing the best golf of his life. In his past seven events, Rahm has placed first or second in four, including a runner-up last week at Torrey Pines.
