Screw it… hello, friends. We’re one day away from the most celebrated tournament of the year and the anticipation is palpable. It’s not often that the entire golf world is focused on one event, but this week is an exception. Welcome to the Masters.

Helicopter Finish

The reigning champion and host of this year’s Champions Dinner is Justine Patrick Reed. Last year, David Leadbetter’s newest student got himself into contention on Thursday and led after each of the last three rounds. He eagled both par 5s on the back nine on Saturday and held a three-shot lead going into Sunday. The final round brought drama, as Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth made runs at the lead while Rory sputtered in the final group. Reed lost strokes to the field on Sunday, but his 71 was just enough to earn him a date in Butler Cabin. 2018 Masters Results

Tee Times

The first two rounds of tee times were released on Tuesday. Per usual, Augusta National does a good job of spreading out the star power. Highlights include the groups of Tiger Woods/Haotong Li/Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka/Jordan Spieth/Paul Casey, and Phil Mickelson/Justin Thomas/Justin Rose. Full list of Masters Tee Times

News and Notes

The Top 10 – For the first time in history, none of the top 10 in the OWGR has ever won the Masters. Tiger (12), Bubba Watson (17), and Patrick Reed (18) are the highest ranked former champions in the field.

The Weather – It has been a wet week in Augusta. Conditions on Thursday will almost certainly be softer than normal unless the course really dries out over the next 24 hours. This narrative tends to be overrated from time to time, but it is always something to keep an eye on.

Pressers – All of the pre-tournament player interviews have been completed, and there have been a few fun stories. Brooks Koepka said was denied an autograph from Phil Mickelson years ago, Rory McIlroy has resorted to juggling, Jon Rahm got irritated by a question, and Tiger learned a new fact about himself. See all interviews HERE.

Champion’s Dinner – It was Patrick Reed’s time to shine on Tuesday as the defending Masters champion hosted the Champions Dinner. His menu centered on ribeye steaks and comfort foods.

Favorites – All of the favorites appeared confident in their games on Tuesday. Tiger, Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, and Rory McIlroy all seem to be in good health and primed to tackle Augusta National. Brooks Koepka is the only top-tier star who may not be in great form. Regardless, it’s exciting to have the big names ready to rock.
