Need a refresher on WOWgr rules?

Vol. 2023.19

No. 1 – Rose Zhang (No change from last week) – The WOWgr overlady was back in action this week at the NCAA Pullman Regional. Believe it or not, she rocked it. Zhang birdied five of her final six holes to win the event by four shots, her 11th career NCAA title. The victory tied her with Tiger Woods, Patrick Rodgers, and Maverick McNealy for most career victories for a Stanford golfer. To break the record this year she’ll need to defend her NCAA Championship title later this month. Let’s just say I like her odds.

No. 2 – The Other Foot C.C. (N/A) – If you are unfamiliar with Hally Leadbetter, you likely don’t consume any golf content because the woman hustles harder than anyone. Anyway, her new venture is a series with Golf Pass called Better Off, a variety-esque show. Her first episode includes a sketch called “The Other Foot C.C.” and depicts a male guest navigating an all-female country club. In less than four minutes, the video covers no less than a dozen areas of the game in which golf has lagged behind in gender equality. It’s both laugh-out-loud funny and extremely pointed at the same time, highlighting many of golf’s issues that still need to be addressed. This is where you right click and open the link in a new window for later viewing if you haven’t watched already. And more importantly, do what you can to avoid the kinds of behaviors highlighted.

No. 3 – Brendon Lawlor (Up 74) – A member of the G4D Tour (Golf for the Disabled Tour), Brendon Lawlor made news last week with a video he posted after receiving hateful messages about his size and medical condition. Brendan has Ellis-van Creveld syndrome, a disorder that means he is shorter in stature and has shorter limbs. He competed in the DP World Tour’s ISPS Handa Championship last month, and while he ultimately missed the cut, it was an opportunity for him to show how talented the guys on the G4D Tour can be. His video was widely shared and will help some people feeling like they’re alone.

Oh, Brendan is also leading the inaugural G4D Open at Woburn through 36 holes. Pretty damn cool.

No. 4 – Effort (Up 11) – No notes for this PGA Tour Live employee. Incredible dedication.

No. 11 – Wisconsin (Up 812) – As you’re reading this, I am likely siping a Spotted Cow with a plate of cheese curds not far off. TFE Events are great fun.

No. 774 – Zip-up penny looking things from the International Crown (no change) – I was a huge fan of the numbers on the International Crown garb last week, but these vest-type items have got to go next year. Can’t we just get the numbers on the hoodies?

No. 987 – Back pins (Down 431) – Backboarding has taken on new meaning at the Regions Traditions Championship on the PGA Tour Champions. Even worse, there is water behind this green!

No. 1,001 – Spelling (Down 1) – It’s never been my favorite thing, but now WOWgr has an excuse to make an error or two. Keep your eyes peeled.

No. 1,341 – Teams who don’t win the NHL Draft Lottery (No change) – Welcome to Chicago, Connor Bedard. (This is largely just to test how closely Will Bardwell is reading).

No. 1,544 – Putting a runner on second base during extra innings (No change) – The MLB just needs to get rid of this dumb rule. Pitch clock is great, starting a runner on second base is ridiculous.
