Your weekly question

Club TFE member Kevin Banas submitted the following note ahead of this week’s virtual hangout, but I wanted to save it to be used as a discussion topic for this weekend chat.

“‘The spot’ article reminded me of the King Collins concept for Pinehurst #10 that had 5-6 routing options. While that model didn’t seem like a fit for Pinehurst Resort (already so many options at resort and in the area), could something like that work for a municipality? Or be scaled down for a par 3 / wee course with many options?” – Kevin

Kevin’s question refer’s to Garrett’s terrific Design Notebook from Monday. His use of the term “spot” is different than what Garrett talked about, but it’s message rings through. I’ll simplify his question to the following: what do you think your local municipality would look for in a new golf course? Would they be open to something like a multi-routing option or some other out-of-the-box thinking? If not, what do you think your local town would want out of a new community-centered course?
