Course Information
Onwentsia Club - You can't tell the history of early American golf without Onwentsia. Established in 1895, Onwentsia was one of the country's first golf courses. C.B. Macdonald had influence on the first nine holes before friend H.J. Tweedie built the second nine. The course went on to host the 1899 U.S. Amateur, 1900 Western Amateur, and 1906 U.S. Open. More recently, Tom Doak renovated the golf course in the late 1990s. The club is loaded with history, including its clubhouse and old-school layout. And while the history buffs will geek out, its architecture chops will appeal to anyone.

Additional Golf Available
On Sunday, September 13, we have some tee times lined up at Pine Hills and Kenosha Country Club in Wisconsin. Both of those are technically add-on opportunities after our Lawsonia event but could easily be tagged onto the Onwentsia Event as well. See the Lawsonia Links Event Page to register.
Additional Opportunities to be announced
Around Onwentsia Club
Make it two Fried Egg Events - Two days ahead of our event at Onwentsia, we have our seventh annual event at Lawsonia Links. Our hometown event, you could have a tremendous long September weekend if you played both events.
Visit Wrigley Field - The Cubs have a two-series home stand surrounding our event as the Pittsburgh Pirates are in town September 11-13 and the Atlanta Braves come in for September 14-16.
Hell, Visit All of Chicago - There isn't a better American city in September than Chicago. That may be a biased opinion, but it may also be true. Head into the city on the Yellow Line or make the short drive and take advantage of some of the best weather of the year.
Travel Information
AIRPORTS - Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) is your best bet but Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) and Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) are both within an hour.
HOTELS - The closest hotels to Onwentsia are the Hilton Garden Inn Lake Forest, Residence Inn, and The Forester Hotel. The Forester is a more upscale option. All three are within 15 minutes of the club. You can also stay anywhere in the Chicagoland area, including the city, and have a manageable drive to the course.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I sign up as a single? - Yes! Historically, about 30-40% of our fields are singles who we pair up based off similar skill levels and competitive interest.
Is there a handicap requirement? - Absolutely not. There is a pace requirement, but as long as you play quickly we are happy to have anyone and everyone participate in our events.
Are caddies required? - Yes. You can indicate whether you'd like a walking caddie or forecaddie during registration. Forecaddie base fees are included but tip is required ($20/round). Walking caddies ($100/round + tip) can also be requested and arranged.
Do I have to play the main event to play the add-on rounds? - Yes.
Are we walking or using carts? - We *highly* recommend walking Onwentsia if possible. It is a terrific walk that allows you to full appreciate the golf course. That said, carts are included in the registration fee and can be used if you'd like to use them.
Can women enter? - Of course! When we said anyone and everyone, we meant it.
What is your refund policy? - Refunds for the Onwentsia Event are available up to 30 days prior to the event. Your registration will be refunded minus a 5% processing fee. After the 30-day deadline refunds can only be issued in the case of emergencies unless the spot is filled by someone else from the waitlist or otherwise.
