Club TFE members!
I’d like to take a moment and apologize for any confusion you may have experienced during TFE Event registration today! I thought using the same Member Number for everyone during the registration process would simply the situation but instead it caused a minor headache.
All of you have received an email from Golf Genius today with a new Member Number that you will use for TFE Events moving forward. The process is the same, the code you use to access early registration is just different.
As Andy often says, everyone is an idiot but the goal is not to be a moron. Unfortunately, my moron came out a bit today. Please reach out to members@thefriedegg.com if you have any questions! Looking forward to getting out to some events with everyone this year.

We’re excited to head out for another round of TFE Events in 2023. Our schedule features 11 events across the country and shows off some great architecture at both public and private venues.
As a part of your Club TFE membership, you have early access to registration for these events. Below you will find the registration calendar, a link to the registration pages, a step-by-step guide for registering, and a description of each event. You are also welcome to bring one non-Club TFE member as your partner.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to members@thefriedegg.com with any questions or leave a comment below!
How to register for TFE Events
Check your email for your Golf Genius Member Number
In order to access event registrations before the general public, Club TFE members will need to select their name from a list and enter the Member Number at the beginning of registration. Screenshots for that process can be found below.
Step 1: Hit the “Register Now for xyz event” on the left side of the Event Page.
Step 2: Select “Register as Member” and hit continue.
Step 3: Type your name into the “Player” box on the left, enter your member, and hit continue. Those that do not have the code (general public) will be given an error message. We will also be checking to make sure registrants (or at least one person on each two-person team) are Club TFE members.
Step 4: Fill out all information for yourself (and partner if applicable).
Step 5: Submit your registration
Event descriptions
The Karl – Lake Merced – Daly City, California – March 20th
This event went on sale in the fall of last year but we’re excited to have people see one of the high-profile renovations of 2022. The Gil Hanse led work attempted to restore as much of the Alister MacKenzie design as they could and it has dramatically improved Lake Merced. Now hopefully it will stop raining in Central California before the event.
The Karl is sold out, but a waitlist is available
The Boomerang – Soule Park – Ojai, California – April 29th
One of the reasons we host this event every year is that the combination of Soule Park and the town of Ojai is intoxicating. It’s a place and a course that we love coming back to every year. The Gil Hanse redesign is set in the foothills of the Topatopa Mountains and late April in Ojai is just about perfect.
The Boomerang opens for Club TFE registration on January 16 at noon ET

The Steamshovel – Lawsonia – Green Lake, Wisconsin – May 13
Our inaugural event turns four! One of our favorite public courses in America is the Langford and Moreau designed Lawsonia Links. Join us for a Midwest kick off at one of the best examples of golden age golf architecture available to the public.
The Steamshovel opens for Club TFE registration on January 16 at noon ET
The Blockbuster – Hollywood GC – Deal, New Jersey – June 20
The architect that I fell in love with most in 2022 was Walter Travis. His use of above ground features and his green designs are mind bending and a must-see for golf architecture nuts. We have a rule that we don’t host events at courses we haven’t seen but we broke it here as Hollywood is considered Travis’s best remaining work. Jump into the Travis rabbit hole with us at The Blockbuster.
The Blockbuster opens for Club TFE registration on January 16 at noon ET
The Dog Bowl – Yale – New Haven, Connecticut – June 24
With the renovation work here pushed back to 2024, we had an opportunity to hold what we originally envisioned the Dog Bowl being before the pandemic interrupted plans. Yale is arguably the most bold piece of golf architecture that exists in America. The Yale team has been doing significant tree clearing this winter in prep for the 2024 renovation with Hanse Golf Design. We can’t wait to take another spin around one of the most eye-popping designs in America.

The Scraper – Prairie Dunes Country Club – Hutchinson, Kansas – July 10th
This will be the third edition of our event at the Perry and Press Maxwell design. With an irrigation project on the books for the fall, we had to move our traditional October date up to July. We will enjoy a nice long summer day at one of the very best courses in the country.
The Scraper opens for Club TFE registration on January 30 at noon ET
The Junction – CommonGround – Aurora, Colorado – August 18th
We made three trips to this Tom Doak design in 2022 and knew we had to have an event there in 2023. This course just outside of Denver is one of the best examples of public golf architecture in America thanks to its fascinating green designs. This event will run concurrent to the U.S. Amateur and we are working with the USGA on an opportunity for our attendees to take in the Round of 32/16 or Semifinal action at Cherry Hills.
The Junction opens for Club TFE registration on January 30 at noon ET
The Gold Jacket – Canton Brookside – Canton, Ohio – August 28th
Of all the courses that I went to for the first time in 2022, Canton Brookside is in the running for the best I saw in America. The course has some of the most wild Donald Ross greens I have ever seen on a great property. This is without a doubt one of the three best courses I have seen in Ohio.
The Gold Jacket opens for Club TFE registration on January 30 at noon ET
The Backyahd – Essex County Club – Manchester, Massachusetts – September 25th
You could make an argument that late September is the best time to visit Boston and Essex County is one of our favorite courses in the world. Donald Ross called Essex his summer home in his formative years and the back nine is one of the very best in golf.
The Backyahd opens for Club TFE registration on February 13 at noon ET

The Secret Sauce – Kingsley Club – Kingsley, Michigan – October 2nd
Speaking of ideal times to visit places, Northern Michigan is pure gold in the summer and fall. Enjoy the early fall foliage at the brilliant Mike DeVries designed Kingsley Club. Mike plans to be on-hand for the event and we are working out the details of a dinner the night before.
The Secret Sauce opens for Club TFE registration on February 13 at noon ET
The Hoot – Old Barnwell/Aiken GC – Aiken, South Carolina – November 3-4
This is our inaugural alternate shot match play event. By playing alternate shot, we will be able to efficiently navigate 36 holes per day and have everyone hit every shot at these two wonderful courses. Old Barnwell will be freshly opened and Aiken stands as one of our favorite public designs in America. With the event stretching over Friday and Saturday, we will also have an optional get together in Aiken (one of the best small towns in the south) on Friday night. Zac Blair has opened up a limited availability to the Tree Farm the following Monday, 11/6, to event attendees, with more details to come on that opportunity.
Note: Every Sunday, Aiken has polo matches that are a fun weekend outing. The Mrs. and I attended one years ago and it was a great day.
The Hoot opens for Club TFE registration on February 13 at noon ET
We are hoping to add one more event or two to the schedule as the year develops, and as Club TFE members, you will be the first to know about them.
