This morning, over at notable golf website The Fried Egg dot com, Andy posted some initial thoughts on the revelation from Rob Collins in our Friday podcast that he’d proposed a five-courses-in-one concept to Pinehurst.
The entire podcast episode is a thought-provoking chat on golf course design, but this portion generated some of the most feedback over the weekend, especially when Rob posted the plans for the dramatic concept on social media. The reaction was mix of excitement, intrigue, fire emojis, and probably some skepticism. It was such a unique proposal that it had Andy thinking on it over the weekend and putting fingers to keyboard for his initial attempt to consider how it might work, and how it might not work.
It’s a bold idea, the kind of thinking we’ve come to expect and appreciate from King-Collins Golf. We wanted to create a space for Club TFE members to discuss the idea, as well as Andy’s initial outline of some of the pros (the intrigue of variety, debate, courage, etc.) and cons (cost, maintenance, safety, etc). What was your initial reaction to the proposal? How would you like to see it executed, if at all?
Remember, the comments are a place for enthusiastic but respectful discussion. This is a different idea creating that kind of discussion, and you can do that below around the Club “table.”
