The Tour heads to North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship, the final event of the regular season. It’s a critical week for players vying either to solidify their status for next season or to move up the FedEx Cup standings for a better position in the playoffs.
This is the 12th edition of the event at Sedgefield Country Club, an old-school Donald Ross design that puts a premium on accuracy off the tee and short irons. Let’s look at four players to consider for both DraftKings and One-and-Done leagues.
Webb Simpson $11,200
Sedgefield CC is like a second home for Webb. Heck, he even named one of his kids after the sponsor of the event—Wyndham. He has finished 11th or better seven of the past nine times he has played here. He won in 2011 and finished runner-up last year. He comes into this week in good form with two runner-ups in his last four starts, including one last week at the WGC in Memphis.
Brandt Snedeker $10,000
Snedeker is another horse for this course. He shot 59 last year en route to a victory. He has finished T-8 or better five of the past nine years. His game has shown flashes of brilliance lately; he has two top fives in his past six starts.
Patrick Reed $9,700
Captain America’s game has been trending in the right direction with top 12s in three of his last four starts. Reed, the 2013 Wyndham champ, would love nothing more than to play well over the next month and force his way onto the President’s Cup team.
Martin Kaymer $8,600
Kaymer needs a high finish this week, as he sits 146th in the FedEx Cup standings. He has been playing much better of late, with five top 20s and three top 10s in his past nine starts. He has played this event twice and finished in the top 20 on both occasions. Sedgefield has a strong correlation with TPC Sawgrass. Five of the past eight winners of the Wyndham have also won the Players: Simpson, Si Woo Kim, Sergio García, Henrik Stenson, and Davis Love III. Note: Martin Kaymer won the Players in 2014.
