Arcadia/Beulah Michigan Golf Trip Suggestions

I'm currently planning a golf trip up to the Arcadia Bluffs/Beulah Michigan area for 12-16 players in late June. Most guys will be travelling from the Chicago area to Michigan. I am looking for any course recommendations for our Thursday round on the way up to the area or in the area itself. Here is the trip itinerary so far:

Thursday PM - No course yet

Friday AM - Pinecroft

Friday PM - Champion Hill

Saturday AM - Arcadia Bluffs - South

Saturday PM - Arcadia Bluffs - Bluffs

Sunday AM - Wolf River Golf Park

New to the Pod.

I am new to the pod I’m from the Seattle area. Any Seattle peeps here? I am looking for a game soon once this atmospheric river dries up.

PHURST / PBOY area next week.

I think I got all my big letters correct up there. Two of us are going down to play Tobacco Rd and Tot Hill next week Thursday and Friday. The weather on Wednesday is NC cold but not too bad. Does anybody know how hard it is to score a last minute the time on one of the even numbers courses?

Kansas golf recommendations for late June

My cousin and I are attending the FEGC Prairie Dunes event this summer and couldn't be more excited. We're starting to consider travel plans and will probably fly into either Wichita or Kansas City the day before and wondering if anyone has any recs for interesting golf in either of those areas or en route to Hutchinson.

I was considering a round at Swope Memorial in KC the day before the event, but the most recent update I see suggests they are targeting a July reopening after last year's renovation work. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

NC Carton - Meetup on March 22

The NC Carton will assemble at the Asheboro Muni (421 Country Club Dr. Asheboro, NC 27205) on Sunday March 22 at 2pm. It's a 9 hole Donald Ross course with the original routing and most bunkers and greens still intact. We'll plan to loop it twice, playing different tees on the second round. Dinner and drinks to follow!

I'll book the tee times, so please let me know if you're planning to come. My email address is anderszwr@gmail.com. Looking forward to seeing you out there!

Charleston Recs

25, one kid, no interest in fighting.

Headed to Charleston soon and looking for some course recs for a round. Have played Wild Dunes before as featured on Design Disasters (can confirm there are some disasters there). Would like to stay in the Charleston area but will travel a little out if it comes recommended!

VA Carton - Anyone here?

Is anyone in the central Virginia area? Bonus points if you're in Richmond. I live on a golf course but got out there a very sad number of times last year. I am hoping to change that this year and would love to meet any FEGC members in the area.

Course Recs for LA/Newport Beach Area

Hey gang -

My dad, brother, and I are heading to Newport Beach for a long weekend in March. We are staying at Pelican Hill, so we will play both of the courses on property but still looking for some must-see or awesome value spots in the area. Monarch Beach is on our radar, but other than that, I am not super versed in the LA golf scene. Any suggestions?

Recommendations sought for EPIC spring road trip. CA to MI via Route 66

Hello everyone! I am lucky enough to be totally absorbed in planning mode for a truly epic road trip that I am undertaking this April/May. I will be bookending this road trip with TWO Fried Egg Events. On April 25th I will be in Ojai, CA at the Spring Festival enjoying some California sun after a winter in the Idaho Mountains. Fast forward to late May, where you will find me joining the crew for the SW Michigan Trip at Lost Dunes and The Dunes Club. In between I will be travelling the Mother Road, historic Route 66 in my van. Yes, there will be golf along the way, a LOT of golf!

Which brings me to the reason behind this post, I am looking for some help in picking out the courses that I will visit over the course of 20 days or so along the way. I have never played golf in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, or Indiana, so this is the main area I am seeking some assistance. Below are the courses that I am considering for this adventure, some of which are courses that I have never seen before but know I must on this trip. I am open to suggestions and hope that I get a chance to tee it up with some of you along the way.

Course Names in bold are spots I won’t miss for any reason.

SoCal

Soule Park

• Rustic Canyon

• Goat Hill Park

• Furnace Creek (who can pass up the chance to play the lowest elevation course in the country)

• Torrey Pines North and Rams Hill are potentials

Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas

• Laughlin Ranch

• Somewhere in Flagstaff Area. I have played everywhere in the Sedona area, but I may detour down to play an old favorite, Oak Creek CC and see some friends.

UNM Championship Course is another favorite that I simply can’t miss. I have played extensively in New Mexico so the usual suspects have already been hit, and I will be exploring a few new spots.

• Mary Sanchez Golf Links

• Los Alamos GC

• Twin Warriors and Santa Ana

• Ross Rogers – Wild Horse Course. I may detour for a few days to hit up the Rawls Course and Rockwind Community Links again, but time dependent.

• Childress Hall…A man can dream!!!

Kansas Detour

• I simply will not miss Buffalo Dunes on this trip, so a detour is planned for western Kansas. Southwind is just up the road so it’s probably in as well.

Oklahoma

This is where I really need help, I want to see as much Perry Maxwell as possible, recommendations will be taken seriously!

Dornick Hills is a must for me. Letter has been written and sent!

• Shawnee Elks, Buffalo Rock, and Muskogee GC. How much Maxwell still exist at these spots?

• Jimmy Austin Golf Club and Cherokee Hills look like places I would enjoy.

Missouri

• Carthage GC

• Neosho GC

• Branson Hills GC. I will be skipping Big Cedar and everything there, don’t need a big destination spot on this trip.

• Old Kinderhook

• St. Louis area courses Persimmon Woods GC, Far Oaks, and Annbriar hold some appeal to me.

Illinois and Indiana

I will most likely bypass The Chicago Area in favor of some sweet small-town stops. I would like some recommendations for the Springfield and Champaign area.

Kankakee Elks

• Harrison Hills

• Culver Academy

• Warren Course

• Rock Hollow GC

Michigan

I have played extensively north of Grand Rapids so this trip will not venture up north. I still have a 2000 mile drive home!

Lost Dunes

• Dunes Club

• The Mines

• Diamond Springs

• Point o’ Woods

A little more about this trip. I will be travelling in my Ford Transit van that is fully self-contained. I am open to great camp spots along the way. I am a walking golfer 99% of the time and just love seeing new places. Thanks in advance for any recommendations or help that this group can provide me with. Hopefully I will meet a few of you out on the road!

Melbourne Golf/Warrnambool

Hello Everybody!

I'm heading down to Melbourne in a couple of weeks with some friends and will be playing some of the big dogs in the area, but I am going to stick around awhile and play more solo, and maybe pop over the 7 mile beach.

What are some good spots to hit up in Melbourne that are a reasonable price? Has anyone taken the train out to Warrnambool for a day trip from the CBD? That seems like a fun adventure, but 7 hours on a train in a day is a lot.

Naples Area

I will be traveling to Naples area in February and curious to get opinions on courses in that area. It seems the public scene is pricey and mediocre. I watched a bit of the Grant Thornton last week to see some of Tiburon, which looked good, just expensive.

Thanks for any input!

New Zealand Carton

Hi all

Perhaps a long shot but would be good to hear from any FEGCers in NZ. I'm based in Auckland but always happy to travel for golf. Will be in Aus for much of May 2026 and looking to play some golf in Tassy and Melbourne if that broadens the net.

Thanks

Conor
