Why you should see Lawsonia Links

If you’ve followed Fried Egg Golf for any length of time, you know that Lawsonia is one of our favorite spots in the country. The course’s architecture stands the test of time, providing numerous exhilarating shots throughout. We’re even more excited for 2024 thanks to the work the ownership has done to improve the course. Over the last two years, they have redone all the bunkers and increased fairway widths, helping expose even more of the brilliance in Langford & Moreau’s design. This will also be the first year we host the Steamshovel in the fall, a time of year when the course can really shine. Expect a firm and fiery Lawsonia Links come September.

Why “The Steamshovel”?

Architects Langford and Moreau were prolific in their use of steamshovels in golf course construction. This method helped them create the bold shaping that they became famous for throughout their careers. At Lawsonia, that shaping can be seen throughout the golf course, but most notably around many of the green complexes. A word of advice: take a long hard look at the green and its surrounds before playing your approach shot. There are places from which golfers have never recovered.
